Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR) serves Bengaluru (Bangalore) and is run by Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), which calls it BLR Airport. It has two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and both handle domestic flights, so the terminal you need depends on your airline.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) recorded about 2.79 million domestic passengers at the airport in August 2026, 4.9% fewer than in August 2025.
Terminal 2 opened to domestic flights on 15 January 2023, and the operator says all scheduled international flights have used Terminal 2 since 12 September 2023. The BLR Airport FAQ says Air India, Air India Express and Star Air currently run their domestic flights from Terminal 2.
IndiGo said in August 2023 that all its domestic flights from Bengaluru would use Terminal 1 from 31 August 2023, and Akasa Air's own page for its Bengaluru to Ahmedabad flights names Terminal 1. For SpiceJet, and for any airline, check the terminal printed on your ticket or web check-in document before you set off, as the operator advises.
At Terminal 2, departures and arrivals are on different levels, linked by escalators and lifts.
A free shuttle runs between the two terminals every 10 minutes, and the ride takes about 10 minutes; the terminals are about 600 metres apart on the same campus. If you turn up at the wrong terminal, allow for that wait and ride before check-in closes.
At Terminal 1 the shuttle picks up in the inner lane of the departure zone, next to the Relay outlet, and at the Terminal 1 kerbside near arrivals, before the Aster Clinic. At Terminal 2 it picks up at points P16 and P17 on the arrivals level and at Gate 3 in the departure zone.
Direct domestic flights recorded from Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru go to the places below, with the airlines recorded on each route. Each place links to its route page; schedules change, so check the airline for current flights.
Some cities have more than one airport, and each airport has its own route page. Mumbai has Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and Navi Mumbai International Airport; the Delhi area has Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, Noida International Airport and Hindon Airport at Ghaziabad; and Goa has the airport at Dabolim and Manohar International Airport at Mopa.

Agatti, Sri Vijaya Puram and Bagdogra (for onward travel to Sikkim) are on the list above. The permit rules differ by place, and they often differ between Indian citizens and foreign nationals.
Air India's travel information says that if you are travelling to Agatti, Lakshadweep, you need approval from the Lakshadweep administration to enter the island. The Lakshadweep Administration issues entry permits, and applications are made on its ePermit portal.
For foreign nationals, the Andaman and Nicobar Administration's tourism department says a Restricted Area Permit (RAP) is not needed to visit the islands it lists as excluded from the permit regime, and that some further islands are exempt from the RAP for day visits only, until 31 December 2027. Nationals of Afghanistan, China (including Hong Kong and Macau) and Pakistan, and foreign nationals of origin in those countries, still need an RAP, granted only after prior approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and are refused entry without one. Myanmar citizens still need an RAP for Mayabunder and Diglipur.
Foreign nationals also need separate approvals for reserved forests, wildlife sanctuaries and tribal reserves, and an RAP in advance for any other island or any purpose other than tourism. Applications are made online through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) portal. Indian citizens should check with the Andaman and Nicobar Administration before they travel.
The Government of Sikkim says foreign nationals need a Restricted Area Permit for all of Sikkim (citizens of Bhutan are exempt), and that Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders need one too. It lists Indian missions abroad, Sikkim Tourism offices in New Delhi and Kolkata, and district magistrates' offices at Darjeeling, Siliguri and Rangpo as places that issue the Inner Line Permit foreign nationals need first.
Indian citizens do not need a Restricted Area Permit, but Indian and foreign nationals alike need a Protected Area Permit (PAP) to visit the border and protected areas within Sikkim. For an Indian national's permit, the state lists a passport, voter identity card, driving licence or government-issued identity card as proof of nationality, and says an Aadhaar card is not accepted for this.
The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) runs Vayu Vajra air-conditioned Volvo buses to the airport. At Terminal 2 they drop off and pick up at Lane 2 in the arrivals zone.
The operator also lists intercity bus services. Its Terminal 2 FAQ places their drop-off and pick-up at the bus zone at Terminal 1, so from Terminal 2 allow time to get across; the free inter-terminal shuttle runs between the terminals.
Indian Railways runs trains between the city and a station the operator's timetable calls Airport, with a shuttle between that station and the airport timed to meet the trains. Stations and halts on the timetable include KSR-Majestic, Cantonment, Byappanahalli, Yelahanka, Malleshwaram, Yeshwanthpur and Devanahalli. Check current train times on the Indian Railways enquiry service, which the operator's trains page points to.
The operator's Terminal 2 FAQ lists airport taxis, BLR Pulse, and Ola and Uber taxis among the road transport at Terminal 2, alongside the buses and private cars. Car-rental booking counters are at the arrivals kerbside, with WTI Cabs named as the provider.
The operator's parking page lists car parks P3 and P4 at Terminal 1 and P2 at Terminal 2, and its Terminal 2 FAQ puts parking and long-term parking at the arrivals level of Terminal 2. Both terminals have two-wheeler parking and electric-car parking with slow and fast charging.
Picking someone up at the kerbside is charged, as is the premium pick-up zone opposite Terminal 1 departures, and electric-car charging is charged too. The current rates are on the operator's parking page.
The operator's list of ways to the airport does not include the metro. The Union Cabinet has approved Phase 2A, from Central Silk Board Junction to K.R. Puram, and Phase 2B, from K.R. Puram to the airport via Hebbal Junction, of the Bangalore Metro Rail Project. Until a line opens, use the buses, the train or a taxi.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) lists the photo identity documents accepted at entry to the terminal building, to be carried in original with a valid ticket; a passport, Aadhaar, driving licence and voter card are among them. Foreign nationals should check their airline's identity rules before flying.
Under the CISF's list, a child travelling with a parent or guardian who carries valid identity needs no separate proof, but an unaccompanied minor does. Individual airlines may ask for more, so check yours.
The operator's FAQ says DigiYatra is available at Terminal 2 for passengers on domestic flights. DigiYatra is the biometric passenger-processing system run by the Digi Yatra Foundation, so check the DigiYatra app for who can enrol. Self bag drop units weigh your bag and print its tag after you scan your boarding pass, and DigiYatra passengers can use facial biometrics at them to print the boarding pass and bag tags.
The CISF's restricted-articles list allows liquids, aerosols and gels in cabin baggage in containers of up to 100 ml each, all in one clear resealable one-litre plastic bag. Medicine or an inhaler with a prescription, and baby food, are exceptions.
A Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) circular of 11 November 2025 puts power banks and spare batteries in hand baggage only, keeps them out of the overhead bin, and bars using or charging them in flight. Check your airline for any limit on battery size or number.
Travel Food Services runs the lounges in the domestic and international areas, and the operator's FAQ says they are open round the clock. At Terminal 1 the domestic lounge is the 080 Lounge on the mezzanine; at Terminal 2 there are lounges at both departures and arrivals, and the FAQ says showers are available at the lounges.
Entry is with an eligible lounge card (Visa, Mastercard, RuPay, Diners, American Express, Lounge Key, Lounge Club or Priority Pass) or an airline invitation, from three hours before departure, and a single transaction covers three hours; ask at the lounge reception to stay longer.
The operator's Care by BLR luggage service has counters near the baggage claim area and is currently available for arriving passengers inside the terminal; bags can be stored for up to five days, and you need a valid ID to drop one off. Departing passengers should ask the operator before relying on it.
Multi-faith prayer rooms are in the domestic departure areas: at Terminal 1 beside the 080 Lounge on the mezzanine (opposite Tiffin Center) and behind the Relay outlet, and at Terminal 2 near the Carluccio's outlet.
At Terminal 2, the Manipal Airport Clinic is on Level 3 in departures, near the staff entry and exit gate, and an Apollo pharmacy is in the check-in hall on Level 3, near departure gate 3. For an overnight stop, the operator's FAQ says the Taj Bangalore hotel is on the airport campus.
For a wheelchair, contact your airline. At Terminal 2, a free buggy runs at the arrival and departure zones for passengers with infants and young children, senior citizens and persons with reduced mobility, and there are pick-up and drop-off points for persons with reduced mobility at the inner departure lane and next to shuttle points P16 and P17.
The DGCA's Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) on denied boarding, cancellations and delays (Section 3, Series M, Part IV, Revision 4, dated 25 January 2023 and effective from 15 February 2023) sets what airlines owe you. If you checked in on time, the airline provides meals and refreshments once a delay passes limits that depend on the length of the flight.
For a domestic flight expected to be delayed for more than six hours from the published scheduled time of departure, or from a revised time communicated more than 24 hours before the original departure, the airline offers either an alternate flight within six hours or a full refund of the ticket. If a flight is cancelled and you were not told in time, the CAR entitles you to an alternate flight or to compensation in addition to a full refund.
No compensation is due where a cancellation or delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances, which the CAR says include weather, air traffic control and security risks, and for a cancellation none is paid to passengers who gave no phone number or email address at booking. You can complain to the airline directly, and the CAR also lets you file a grievance on the Air Sewa app or portal.
The operator's FAQ says Air India, Air India Express and Star Air run their domestic flights from Terminal 2. IndiGo said in 2023 that its domestic flights from Bengaluru would use Terminal 1, and Akasa Air's page for its Bengaluru to Ahmedabad flights names Terminal 1. For SpiceJet, and for any airline, check the terminal on your ticket or web check-in document.
Take the free shuttle, which runs every 10 minutes and takes about 10 minutes for the 600 metres between the terminals. It picks up next to the Relay outlet at Terminal 1 departures and at points P16 and P17 at Terminal 2 arrivals, among other stops.
The operator's list of ways to the airport does not include the metro. The Union Cabinet has approved Phase 2B, from K.R. Puram to the airport via Hebbal Junction. Until a line opens, the operator lists BMTC Vayu Vajra buses, intercity buses, the Indian Railways train with its connecting shuttle, and taxis.
For Agatti, Air India's travel information says you need approval from the Lakshadweep administration to enter the island. For Sri Vijaya Puram, foreign nationals have permit rules to check, and Indian citizens should check with the Andaman and Nicobar Administration. For Sikkim, foreign nationals need a Restricted Area Permit and everyone needs a Protected Area Permit for border and protected areas; the entry-permit section above sets out the detail.
The operator's Care by BLR luggage service is currently available for arriving passengers inside the terminal, and bags can be stored for up to five days. Departing passengers should ask the operator before relying on it.
