Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (LKO) is Lucknow's airport, at Amausi in Uttar Pradesh. Amausi is the locality, and Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport is the name its operator uses. It is one of the airports the Adani Group runs.
IndiGo, Air India, Air India Express and Akasa Air are listed at Terminal 3 (T3), which the Prime Minister inaugurated on 10 March 2024. The Adani Lounge in domestic departures closes overnight, and the national rules do not require compensation for a delay clearly caused by weather, so plan around both.
T3 handles domestic and international flights. The operator's airline information page lists IndiGo, Air India, Air India Express and Akasa Air at T3, so check your booking for the terminal before you set off.
Check-in, the DigiYatra gate, the wheelchair assistance desk, and the taxi and auto rickshaw pick-up points are at T3. The check-in counters carry Chikankari and Mukaish motifs, and the terminal has a display of the art and architecture of Uttar Pradesh.
The operator advises arriving two hours before a domestic flight and four hours before an international one, with a photo identity document, your ticket or e-ticket, and your boarding pass if you checked in online. Identity is checked at the entry gate.
Inside, you can check in at a self-check-in kiosk or at the check-in counters, or through DigiYatra if you are on a select domestic flight, and leave bags at the self-baggage drop or the counters. Check your airline's own check-in deadline as well.
DigiYatra, a Ministry of Civil Aviation initiative, uses face verification at entry and at security. You register in advance with Aadhaar or DigiLocker, then on the day your face is verified at the DigiYatra gate at T3, at an e-gate face pod before security and at a face pod after security, and you board yourself at the departure gate.
DigiYatra is for departing passengers on select domestic flights from T3. If you have not registered in advance, there is a registration desk at the T3 entry gates.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) publishes the list of photo identity documents accepted at terminal entry, carried in original with a valid ticket. A passport, Aadhaar or m-Aadhaar, a voter photo identity card and a driving licence are among them, and a passenger on an international flight carries a passport.
The CISF list says an infant or minor travelling with a parent or guardian who holds valid identity proof does not need a separate document, but an unaccompanied minor does. Airlines may ask for more, and foreign nationals should ask their airline which document it accepts for a domestic flight.
At security, electronics and personal items go in separate trays, and the clear bag of liquids is taken out and put in a tray. The CISF restricted-articles list allows liquids, aerosols and gels in cabin baggage in containers of up to 100 ml each, packed in one clear, resealable one-litre plastic bag; medicine or an inhaler accompanied by a prescription, and baby food, are exceptions. Power banks go in hand baggage only, and satellite phones and drones are not permitted in hand or checked baggage.
The hand baggage allowance differs by airline, so your airline's own rules decide what you can carry on board.
Domestic arrivals do not pass through immigration. International arrivals go through immigration with a passport, visa and arrival card, then baggage reclaim and customs, with Green and Red channels.
The space opposite the arrival gates is for meeting people and pre-arranged transport. Pre-arranged transport is picked up in the car park, while taxis and app-based cabs are outside the terminal.
The metro, taxis, app-based cabs, car rentals and auto rickshaws serve the airport.
The nearest Lucknow Metro stations to the airport are the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCS) metro station, Amausi and Transport Nagar. Check train times with Lucknow Metro.
Metered taxis, app-based cabs and car rentals have pick-up points at T3. Metered auto rickshaws wait at T3 near Arrivals.
Parking has short-term and long-term options and a Parking Help Desk. The classes include general and premium parking for four-wheelers, and a class for two-wheelers, three-wheelers and commercial vehicles.
Car parking and valet parking can be booked ahead online through Adani One, the operator's booking service, and the QR code you receive on your phone is scanned at the parking counter.
Both lounges have a self-service buffet, a chaat section, hot and cold drinks, free Wi-Fi and flight information, with access for two hours before the scheduled departure. Both can be booked through Adani One.
The operator lists the Adani Lounge as open to business class passengers, card holders and walk-in customers. Check with your airline or card issuer whether your ticket or card includes access.
Book a wheelchair with your airline when you book your flight. In an emergency, wheelchairs are provided at departure and arrival without a booking.
The wheelchair assistance desk is near the kerbside of Departure Gate 2 at T3, and a paid mobility assistance service is offered at T3. Information desks are at arrival, at departure and after security, and help phones are at Arrivals, at security and at Departures.

The DGCA's passenger-rights rules say an airline is not liable for compensation for delays and cancellations clearly attributable to weather, air traffic control or security risks. A fog delay is therefore unlikely to bring compensation. The rules also do not oblige an airline to provide meals or a hotel where a delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances that could not have been avoided with all reasonable measures, so leave time between a winter flight and anything you cannot miss.
Passenger rights on flights in India are set out in the DGCA's Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, Revision 4, dated 25 January 2023 and effective from 15 February 2023. If you checked in on time, the airline provides meals and refreshments once a delay is expected to reach two hours or more on a flight of up to 2.5 hours' block time, three hours or more on a flight of more than 2.5 and up to five hours, and four hours or more on a longer flight.
When a flight is cancelled, the airline offers an alternate flight or a refund, and a passenger who was not told in time is offered either an alternate flight, or compensation under the DGCA's rules on top of a full refund. Revision 4 does not require that compensation where the cause is an extraordinary circumstance beyond the airline's control, nor meals and a hotel for a delay caused by one that could not have been avoided with all reasonable measures, and passengers who gave no phone or email contact at booking are not owed compensation for a cancellation.
You can complain to the airline directly, file a grievance on the Air Sewa app or portal, or go to a statutory body or court. Check dgca.gov.in for a later revision, and your airline's current rules, before you rely on these rules.
