Raipur Airport (RPR) serves Raipur, in Chhattisgarh, and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) runs it. It is also known as Swami Vivekananda Airport, the name in AAI's address block, and as Mana Airport on the Raipur district administration's page.

A Raipur district administration page dated 2019 places the airport about 15 km south of Raipur. The President of India dedicated the airport's Integrated Terminal Building to the nation on 7 November 2012.

Facilities at Raipur Airport

In a Hitavada news report of 14 June 2026, the airport director described a modern integrated terminal building and a 3,250-metre runway. The same Hitavada report has the airport director listing Digi Yatra, free Wi-Fi, lounges, medical assistance, child-care amenities and dedicated facilities for passengers with disabilities.

If you hold lounge access through a card or a ticket, check with its provider that it covers a lounge at Raipur.

Contacting the airport

AAI's contact page for Raipur gives the airport office as [email protected], on +91-771-2418167 and +91-771-2418168. The same page lists a Duty Terminal Manager and a Public Grievance Officer.

Getting to and from Raipur Airport

Buses and car rental

AAI's transport pages for Raipur list a city bus and an intercity bus, both run by Raipur Municipal Corporation and available at the city-side area. The pages also list a car rental service, Maxi Car Rental Services, which provides air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned cars.

Identity and security at Raipur Airport

Identity documents

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) publishes the list of photo identity documents accepted at terminal entry, carried in original with a valid ticket. A passport, Aadhaar or m-Aadhaar, a voter photo identity card and a driving licence are among them.

The CISF list says an infant or minor travelling with a parent or guardian who holds valid identity proof does not need a separate document, but an unaccompanied minor does. Airlines may ask for more, and foreign nationals should ask their airline which document it accepts for a domestic flight.

Liquids and banned items

AAI's security page for Raipur and the CISF's restricted-articles list allow liquids, aerosols and gels in cabin baggage in containers of up to 100 ml each, packed in one clear, resealable one-litre plastic bag. Medicine or an inhaler accompanied by a prescription, and baby food, are exceptions. AAI describes its lists of prohibited items as indicative only.

AAI's security page for Raipur lists sharp objects, sporting goods, firearms, tools, explosives, flammable items and fuels among prohibited items. A Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) circular dated 11 November 2025 says power banks and spare batteries are to be carried in hand baggage only and not placed in overhead bins, and that using or charging power banks is not allowed during flight. Ask your airline about any limit on their size or number.

Digi Yatra

Digi Yatra is run by the Digi Yatra Foundation, and the airport director named it among Raipur's facilities in a Hitavada news report of 14 June 2026. Check the Digi Yatra app for who can enrol before you rely on it.

Places to visit

AAI's page for Raipur Airport lists places to visit that include Chitrakote Water Fall, Kanger Valley National Park, Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary, Bastar, Sirpur, Rajim, Bhoramdeo, Mainpat and Dongergarh.

The Ministry of Tourism gives Rajim as approximately 50 km from Raipur, on the eastern bank of the Mahanadi, and describes it as a Vaishnavite hub and also a Shaiva centre. It gives Arang as approximately 40 km from Raipur, with Hindu and Jain temples of the 11th and 12th centuries, among them the Bhand Deval Jain Temple. Both distances are from Raipur, not from the airport.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) lists Bhand Dewal at Arang, and monuments and temples at Sirpur, in its list of centrally protected monuments.

In Raipur itself, the Ministry of Tourism names Kankali Talab, the Dudhadhari Temple, which it dates to the 17th century, the Mahant Ghasi Memorial Museum and Budha Talab (Vivekananda Sarovar). It puts Nandanvan Zoo and Safari, in Nava Raipur, 15 km from the airport and 35 km from Raipur railway station.

Delays, cancellations and your rights

The DGCA sets out what airlines offer when a flight is delayed or cancelled, or a passenger is denied boarding, in its Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, Revision 4, dated 25 January 2023 and effective from 15 February 2023. If you checked in on time, the airline provides meals and refreshments once a delay is expected to reach two hours or more on a flight with a block time of up to 2.5 hours, three hours or more on a flight of more than 2.5 and up to 5 hours, and four hours or more on a longer flight. The CAR does not require meals, refreshments or hotel accommodation where the delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances that could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken.

If a domestic flight is expected to be delayed by more than six hours from its published departure time, or from a revised time communicated more than 24 hours before the original departure, the airline offers either an alternate flight within six hours or a full refund. For a delay of more than 24 hours, or more than six hours for a flight scheduled to depart between 2000 and 0300 hours, the airline provides hotel accommodation when necessary, including transfers.

When a flight is cancelled, the airline provides for an alternate flight or a refund, and a passenger who was not told in time is offered either an alternate flight, or compensation under the DGCA's rules on top of a full refund. Compensation is not due to a passenger who gave the airline no email address or phone number at booking. The CAR does not require compensation for a cancellation caused by extraordinary circumstances, and it says an airline need not pay compensation for cancellations and delays clearly attributable to air traffic control, weather or security risks.

You can complain to the airline directly, file a grievance on the Air Sewa app or portal, or go to a statutory body or court. Check dgca.gov.in for a later revision and your airline's current rules before you rely on this.
