Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport (IDR) serves Indore, in Madhya Pradesh, and is about 8 km from the city. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) runs it, and the name is also written Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar.
AAI's passenger pages list the airport's facilities under an integrated terminal. Ujjain, Omkareshwar, Maheshwar and Mandu are reached by road from the airport.
AAI's pages place the departure and arrival halls, the security hold area and check-in in the integrated terminal. For the check-in counters of IndiGo, Air India or Air India Express, ask your airline.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) publishes the list of photo identity documents accepted at terminal entry, carried in original with a valid ticket. A passport, Aadhaar or m-Aadhaar, a voter photo identity card and a driving licence are among them.
The CISF list says an infant or minor travelling with a parent or guardian who holds valid identity proof does not need a separate document, but an unaccompanied minor does. Airlines may ask for more, and foreign nationals should ask their airline which document it accepts for a domestic flight.
In cabin baggage, the CISF restricted-articles list allows liquids, aerosols and gels in small quantities for the journey, in containers of up to 100 ml each, packed in one clear, resealable one-litre plastic bag. Medicine or an inhaler accompanied by prescription, and baby food, are exceptions.
Lighters, metal scissors with pointed tips, tools such as hammers and drills, and self-defence items such as pepper spray are on its list of items banned from the cabin. For power banks and spare batteries, follow your airline's own rule.
The Minister of Civil Aviation launched DigiYatra virtually at Indore and other AAI airports on 6 September 2024. DigiYatra is run by the Digi Yatra Foundation, so check the DigiYatra app for who can enrol and for the airports where it is available.
The airport is about 8 km from the city, and AAI lists taxis, app cabs and city buses.
A prepaid taxi booth in the arrival hall is run by the Airport Taxi Chalak Association. AAI lists Ola Cabs and Star Cabs at the arrival area.
AAI lists Sakha Cabs, a service with women drivers for women passengers, outside the terminal.
AAI lists city buses outside the airport, and routes 7 and 11 for Tejaji Nagar, the railway station and Bhanwar Kua, among other stops, but route numbers can change, so check at the stop.
The airport has a paid car park near the arrival exit, with separate rates for two-wheelers, four-wheelers, tempos, SUVs and minibuses, and buses and trucks. The charge is set by how long you stay and rises after two hours, so check AAI's Park and Fly page for Indore before you leave a car for a long stay.
AAI's pages list these facilities at the airport:
AAI's page lists free Wi-Fi for up to 45 minutes, after which it can be extended on a paid basis.
AAI lists a reserved lounge for entitled dignitaries in the arrival hall, and a CIP lounge and a reserved lounge for entitled dignitaries in the departure hall. If you hold lounge access through a card or a ticket, check with its provider that it covers Indore.
Wheelchairs are free. Ask your airline for one when you book, or at its ticketing counter at the airport; the wheelchair points are near the entry gate in departures and near the apron in arrivals.
Lost-property enquiries go to the Airport Terminal Manager's office, whose phone line AAI lists as open at any hour. Items can be collected between 9.30 am and 6 pm on working days, so plan any collection for a working day.
AAI's page says baggage handling and delivery are the airline's responsibility from check-in to collection, and that items left on the aircraft go to the airline, so report a missing bag or anything left on board to your airline.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) sets out what airlines offer when a flight is delayed or cancelled, or a passenger is denied boarding, in its Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, Revision 4, dated 25 January 2023 and effective from 15 February 2023. If you checked in on time, the airline provides meals and refreshments once a delay is expected to reach two hours or more on a flight with a block time of up to 2.5 hours, three hours or more on a flight of more than 2.5 and up to 5 hours, and four hours or more on a longer flight. The CAR does not require these facilities where the delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances.
When a flight is cancelled, the airline provides for an alternate flight or a refund, and a passenger who was not told in time is offered either an alternate flight, or compensation under the DGCA's rules on top of a full refund. Compensation is not due to a passenger who gave the airline no email address or phone number at booking. The CAR does not require compensation for cancellations and delays clearly attributable to air traffic control, weather or security risks, or caused by other circumstances beyond the airline's control.
You can complain to the airline directly, file a grievance on the Air Sewa app or portal, or go to a statutory body or court. Check dgca.gov.in for a later revision and your airline's current rules before you rely on this.
