The district administration describes Diu as an island slightly off the coast of Kathiawad, near the Port of Veraval in Gujarat. It says the island is bounded by the Gir-Somnath and Amreli districts of Gujarat to the north and by the Arabian Sea on three sides, and that two bridges connect it to the mainland.
The district administration says the nearest railway junction is Veraval, 90 km from Diu.
The district administration describes the Fort of Diu as standing on the extreme coast of the island on its eastern side, hemmed in by the sea on three sides and by a canal on the fourth. It says the fort was built in 1535 by Nuno da Cunha and rebuilt in 1546 by Joao de Castro, the product of a strategic alliance between Bahadur Shah, the Sultan of Gujarat, and the Portuguese against the Mughals. It adds that the fort now houses a lighthouse that guides fishermen, and a jail.
Nagoa Beach is a semicircular beach in Nagoa hamlet of Bucharwada village, in the district's description. The district's list of tourist places also includes Chakratirth Beach and Ghoghla Beach.
In the district's list, St. Paul Church is also called the Church of Immaculate Conception. It gives St. Francis of Assisi Church as built in 1593 at the time of Governor Pero de Naya, and St. Thomas Church Museum as built in 1598 by an order of Bishop Aleixo Menezes.
Among Diu's other tourist places, the district names the Gangeshwar Temple, the Fortress of Panikotha (which it describes as a stone structure in the sea) and a bird sanctuary.
IndiGo's check-in counters for domestic flights close 60 minutes before scheduled departure, and its boarding gates close 25 minutes before departure. IndiGo recommends reporting at least 2 hours before departure, and says it reserves the right to cancel a reservation if a customer does not keep to its check-in timelines.
IndiGo's baggage policy allows one cabin bag of up to 7 kg and 55 x 35 x 25 cm, plus one personal article of up to 3 kg, such as a purse or a small bag containing a laptop. Its allowance page gives a domestic checked allowance of 15 kg per person.
A Lite fare, or a similar promotional fare, includes no checked baggage; it can be added for a charge, including at the airport check-in counter before the counters close. IndiGo says baggage requirements differ from flight to flight and that the booking confirmation and ticket carry the most accurate details, so check yours.
IndiGo carries infants above 3 days and under 2 years on the date of travel on an adult's lap, one infant per adult, with proof of age at check-in. A child under 5 cannot use IndiGo's Flying Solo service for unaccompanied minors and must travel with someone over 18, and, as IndiGo puts it, a child aged 5 to 12 travels either with a companion aged 18 or over or on Flying Solo.
IndiGo says that if it delays a flight by more than 2 hours or brings it forward by more than 1 hour, customers are entitled to a full refund or rebooking onto an alternative IndiGo flight at no additional cost, subject to availability. If you give an SMS-capable mobile number at booking, IndiGo says it will tell you of a change to your flight in advance by SMS, and it sends the revised itinerary by email.
Star Air advises reporting to its check-in counter at least 2 hours before departure. The counter closes 60 minutes before departure, and boarding gates close 25 minutes before. Star Air's conditions also ask passengers who have checked in online to be at the boarding gate 30 minutes before departure.
Web check-in is on starair.in: check your booking and starair.in for when it opens and closes. Passengers who need special assistance, such as a wheelchair, should pre-book it at least 48 hours before departure, and they check in at the airport counter, as Star Air does not let them use online check-in.
You can take one cabin bag of up to 7 kg, and a laptop counts towards that weight. Star Air's conditions also list items carried in addition to the cabin bag, such as a handbag, a camera, an overcoat and medicines needed during the flight.
The checked allowance depends on the fare: Star Air's conditions give 15 kg on Star Regular and Star Flexi, and 20 kg on Star Comfort and the Business fares. Infants are not entitled to a free baggage allowance on Star Air. Star Air says the free checked allowance follows the fare rules on the ticket, so check yours.
Star Air carries infants from 7 days old until their second birthday on the day of travel, one infant per adult, with proof of age at the airport. Its unaccompanied minor service is for children from age 5 and under 12, and children under 5 cannot travel alone. Star Air's pages set limits on flying during pregnancy by week and ask for a doctor's certificate from 28 weeks, so check with Star Air before you book.
Star Air's conditions of carriage say that if a flight is cancelled or rescheduled by more than two and a half hours (depending on the length of the journey), a passenger can choose a refund or a rebooking on another Star Air flight at no additional cost, subject to availability, as per the rules of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Under the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) list of valid photo identity documents, a passenger carries any one of them in original, with a valid ticket, at entry to the terminal building. A passport, Aadhaar or m-Aadhaar, a voter photo identity card and a driving licence are among them. An infant or minor travelling with a parent or guardian who holds valid identity proof needs no separate document on the CISF list, but an unaccompanied minor does, and airlines may ask for more, so check with yours.
Under the CISF's restricted-articles list, liquids, aerosols and gels in cabin baggage go in containers of up to 100 ml each, in one clear, resealable one-litre plastic bag; medicine or an inhaler accompanied by a prescription, and baby food, are the exceptions.
A DGCA circular dated 11 November 2025 says power banks and spare batteries go in hand baggage only and not in overhead bins, and that using or charging power banks is not allowed during flight. Star Air allows power banks only in hand baggage. IndiGo sets its own limits on their size and number, so check its baggage pages before you fly.
Under the DGCA's Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, Revision 4, dated 25 January 2023, airlines are not liable for compensation for cancellations and delays clearly attributable to meteorological conditions.
The same CAR says the duty to provide meals, refreshments and hotel accommodation during a delay does not apply where the delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances that could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. Cancellation compensation is not due to a passenger who gave no email address or phone number at booking, so give your contact details when you book.
You can complain to the airline directly or file a grievance on the Air Sewa app or portal. The CAR is the document to read for the full terms.
