Dibrugarh Airport (DIB) is at Mohanbari, about 16 km from the city of Dibrugarh in Assam, and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) runs it. The airport serves upper Assam and neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh and is surrounded by tea estate.
The direct domestic flights recorded from Dibrugarh are with IndiGo, Air India Express and Akasa Air, to the destinations in the table further down this page.
The airport is about 16 km from Dibrugarh city, so allow for a road journey of that length after you land. AAI lists a taxi service, Holiday Travels, in the arrival hall.
AAI lists the facilities below. For food there are a snack bar and a multi-cuisine restaurant with a snack bar. The shops include a departmental store, a merchandise outlet and a menswear shop.
Wi-Fi is free for 30 minutes, and there is a free mobile charging point. The airport also has a child care room, a rest room for transit passengers and a porter service, and its car park takes two-wheelers, cars and buses.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) publishes the list of photo identity documents accepted at entry to the terminal building, carried in original with a valid ticket. A passport, Aadhaar or m-Aadhaar, a voter photo identity card and a driving licence are among them.
The CISF list says an infant or minor travelling with a parent or guardian who holds valid identity proof does not need a separate document, but an unaccompanied minor does. Airlines may ask for more than the CISF list. Foreign nationals should check with their airline which document it accepts for a domestic flight.
The CISF's restricted-articles list allows liquids, aerosols and gels in cabin baggage in containers of up to 100 ml each, packed in one clear, resealable one-litre plastic bag. Medicine or an inhaler accompanied by a prescription, and baby food, are exceptions. Lighters, metal scissors with pointed tips, sharp objects, sporting goods and firearms are among the items barred from cabin baggage.
A Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) circular dated 11 November 2025 says power banks and spare batteries are to be carried in hand baggage only and not placed in overhead bins, and that power banks may not be used or charged during the flight. Ask your airline about any limit on their size or number.
Indian nationals visiting Arunachal Pradesh need an Inner Line Permit (ILP), which the state issues online as an eILP. The Arunachal Pradesh Police say natives of the state do not need one. Apply on the Government of Arunachal Pradesh's eILP portal, which notes that manual Inner Line Permits have been banned by a Government Order of 27 July 2017.
The portal offers a provisional eILP, which you can apply for on your own or as a group, and a regular eILP for a single applicant; check the portal for how long each is valid. You need a recent colour photograph and a scan of one identity document, such as a passport, driving licence, voter ID card or Aadhaar card, in English or Hindi. The fee cannot be refunded once it is paid, so settle your dates before you apply.
The Arunachal Pradesh Police say Overseas Citizens of India cannot get an ILP and apply instead for a Protected Area Permit (PAP). The police also say all foreigners need a Protected Area Permit to enter the state, and that citizens of Pakistan, Bangladesh, China and Myanmar can get one only with the approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The state's eILP portal sends PAP applications to the e-services site of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO); check the portal for the route that applies to you.
Assam Tourism calls Dibrugarh "India's original tea city". It is a base for trips to the Tinsukia and Sivasagar districts and to Dibru Saikhowa National Park. The city sits on the banks of the Brahmaputra, and October to March is considered the best time to visit, though it is open to visitors all year.
Heritage tea bungalows, Raidongia Doul and the Tai Phake Eco Tourism Camp are among the places to visit, and the Jokai Botanical Garden cum Germplasm Center is 12 km from Dibrugarh town.
The Dibrugarh district administration describes the Bogibeel Bridge over the Brahmaputra as the longest combined rail and road bridge in India. It promotes the bridge and Bogibeel Ghat for river cruises and houseboats.

The DGCA sets out what airlines offer when a flight is delayed or cancelled, or a passenger is denied boarding, in its Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, Revision 4, dated 25 January 2023 and effective from 15 February 2023. If you checked in on time, the airline provides meals and refreshments once a delay is expected to reach two hours or more on a flight with a block time of up to 2.5 hours, three hours or more on a flight of more than 2.5 and up to five hours, and four hours or more on a longer flight. The CAR does not require meals, refreshments or hotel accommodation where the delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances that could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken.
If a domestic flight is expected to be delayed by more than six hours from its published departure time, or from a revised time communicated more than 24 hours before the original departure, the airline offers either an alternate flight within six hours or a full refund. For a total delay of more than 24 hours, or more than six hours on a flight scheduled between 2000 and 0300 hours, the CAR also requires hotel accommodation when necessary, with transfers.
When a flight is cancelled, the airline arranges an alternate flight or a refund, and a passenger who was not told in time is offered either an alternate flight, or compensation under the DGCA's rules on top of a full refund. Compensation is not due to a passenger who gave the airline no email address or phone number at booking. The CAR does not require compensation for a cancellation caused by extraordinary circumstances, and it says an airline need not pay compensation for cancellations and delays clearly attributable to air traffic control, weather or security risks.
You can complain to the airline directly, file a grievance on the Air Sewa app or portal, or go to a statutory body or court. Check dgca.gov.in for a later revision and your airline's current rules before you rely on this.
