Jamnagar Airport (JGA) serves Jamnagar, Gujarat. The Jamnagar district administration puts the airport about 10 km from the town. Gujarat Tourism, which also calls it Govardhanpur Airport, says it is about 9 km from the city centre.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) gives the airport's address under the heading Jamnagar Civil Enclave. India's aeronautical information publication lists Jamnagar Airport as a civil enclave, which it defines as a military airport where civil air traffic is allowed under certain conditions.
The airlines recorded on these flights are IndiGo, Air India Express and Star Air. Direct domestic flights recorded from Jamnagar go to:
| Destination | Airport | Airlines recorded |
|---|---|---|
| Ahmedabad | Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (AMD) | Star Air |
| Mumbai (Bombay) | Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) | IndiGo, Air India Express |
| Surat | Surat International Airport (STV) | Star Air |
For lost and found baggage at Jamnagar Airport, AAI's advice is to contact the duty terminal manager.
According to the Jamnagar district administration, the Lakhota Kotho is a water fort on an island in Ranmal Lake, also known as Lakhota Lake. It is a protected monument under the State Government of Gujarat and is now the district museum, run by the Gujarat State Archaeology and Museum Department.
Gujarat Tourism describes tree-lined promenades and a running track at the lake, and an island fort, which it calls Lakhota Palace, with a small museum of weaponry, manuscripts and pottery. It gives November to February as the best time to visit.
Gujarat Tourism says the marine wildlife sanctuary and the marine national park were created here, in the Gulf of Kutch, in 1980 and 1982. The district administration places the park and sanctuary in the inter-tidal zone along the coast of Jamnagar.
Gujarat Tourism says visitors need permission to enter the islands, from the office of the Conservator of Forests in Jamnagar, which also gives other details, and it suggests asking for a guide. The district says Pirotan island is reached by boat from Bedi Port, about 18 nautical miles away, and gives October to March as the period to visit.
The district administration also lists the Khijadia Bird Sanctuary, about 10 km north-east of Jamnagar.
Gujarat Tourism lists Jamnagar among the closest airports to Dwarka, and puts Jamnagar's airport about 145 km from Dwarka. Dwarka is in Devbhoomi Dwarka district, and its Dwarkadhish Temple is also called Jagat Mandir. Gujarat Tourism counts Dwarka among the Char Dhams and gives November to February, and Janmashtami, as the best times to visit.
IndiGo's check-in counters for domestic flights close 60 minutes before scheduled departure, and its boarding gates close 25 minutes before departure. IndiGo recommends reporting at least 2 hours before departure, and says it reserves the right to cancel a reservation if a customer does not keep to its check-in timelines.
IndiGo's baggage policy allows one cabin bag of up to 7 kg and 55 x 35 x 25 cm, plus one personal article of up to 3 kg, such as a purse or a small bag containing a laptop. Its allowance page gives a domestic checked allowance of 15 kg per person.
A Lite fare, or a similar promotional fare, includes no checked baggage; it can be added for a charge, including at the airport check-in counter before the counters close. IndiGo says baggage requirements differ from flight to flight and that the booking confirmation and ticket carry the most accurate details, so check yours.
IndiGo says that if it delays a flight by more than 2 hours or brings it forward by more than 1 hour, customers are entitled to a full refund or rebooking onto an alternative IndiGo flight at no additional cost, subject to availability.
Air India Express's conditions of carriage say its check-in counters open two hours and close 60 minutes before a domestic departure, and its boarding gates close 25 minutes before departure. Web check-in opens 14 days and closes 60 minutes before departure. At its discretion, the airline may not offer web check-in to some passengers, such as unaccompanied minors and passengers with special service requests.
The conditions allow one cabin bag within 56 x 36 x 23 cm plus one laptop bag within 30 x 40 x 10 cm, with the two together weighing no more than 7 kg. On the airline's booking page, the Xpress Lite fare includes no checked baggage, and the Xpress Value and Xpress Classic fares include 15 kg on domestic routes. Your ticket decides your allowance, and the conditions say no single piece of baggage may weigh more than 32 kg.
Under the conditions, an infant is a passenger below two years old at departure, travelling on an adult's lap, with one infant per adult. Proof of age is required, and an infant without a government photo identity document needs a valid birth certificate at check-in. The conditions give an infant an additional 10 kg of free checked baggage on the adult's allowance and no cabin baggage allowance; for an infant seven days old or younger, check the rules with Air India Express before you book.
Air India Express's conditions of carriage also say that an infant above seven days and up to one year old, with no complications, needs a fit-to-fly certificate from the treating doctor, submitted 48 hours before departure.
The airline's booking page says assistance is available for children aged 5 to 12 travelling alone. Under the conditions, a parent or guardian submits the unaccompanied minor form, in four copies, at the airport ticketing counter or a city booking office at least six hours before departure, then escorts the child to the ticketing counter 120 minutes before departure and stays at the airport until the flight is in the air. Air India Express accepts unaccompanied minors on direct flights only.
Air India Express sets conditions for expectant mothers by stage of pregnancy, so check them with the airline before you book. It treats power banks as spare batteries, carried in cabin baggage only and individually protected, with a watt-hour rating of no more than 100 Wh for lithium-ion batteries and no more than 2 g of lithium metal content for lithium metal batteries.
Star Air's conditions of carriage say check-in closes 60 minutes before the scheduled departure and boarding gates close 25 minutes before it. Star Air's conditions also ask passengers who have checked in online to be at the boarding gate 30 minutes before departure. Star Air advises reporting at its check-in counter at least 2 hours before the flight.
Web check-in is on starair.in, so check the window for your booking there. Star Air asks passengers who need special assistance, including a wheelchair, to pre-book it at least 48 hours before the scheduled departure, and says those passengers must check in at the airport counter and cannot use online check-in.
Star Air allows one cabin bag of up to 7 kg, laptop included. Its conditions also list items carried in addition to that bag, such as a handbag, a camera, an overcoat and medicines needed during the flight.
The checked allowance depends on the fare: 15 kg on Star Regular and Star Flexi, and 20 kg on Star Comfort and the Business fares. Infants get no free baggage allowance. Star Air says the allowance is the one in the fare rules on your ticket, so check yours.
Star Air carries infants under 2 years old on the day of travel, but not younger than 7 days, one infant per adult, with proof of age at the airport. Its unaccompanied minor service is for children from 5 to under 12, and children under 5 cannot travel alone. For expectant mothers, Star Air sets limits by week of pregnancy and asks for a doctor's certificate from 28 weeks, so check with the airline before booking.
Star Air allows power banks only in hand baggage.
Under the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) list of valid photo identity documents, a passenger carries any one of them in original, with a valid ticket, at entry to the terminal building. A passport, Aadhaar or m-Aadhaar, a voter photo identity card and a driving licence are among them, and an unaccompanied minor needs one too. Airlines may ask for more, so check with your airline.
Under the CISF's restricted-articles list, liquids, aerosols and gels in cabin baggage go in containers of up to 100 ml each, in one clear, resealable one-litre plastic bag; medicine or an inhaler accompanied by a prescription, and baby food, are the exceptions. A Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) circular dated 11 November 2025 says power banks and spare batteries go in hand baggage only and not in overhead bins, and that using or charging power banks is not allowed during flight. For IndiGo's own power-bank rules, and any limit Star Air sets on their size or number, check with the airline before you fly.
Under the DGCA's Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, Revision 4, dated 25 January 2023, airlines are not liable for compensation for cancellations and delays clearly attributable to meteorological conditions. IndiGo says that if you give an SMS-capable mobile number at booking, it will tell you of a change to your flight in advance by SMS, and it sends the revised itinerary by email.
Star Air's conditions of carriage say that if a flight is cancelled or rescheduled by more than two and a half hours, depending on the length of the journey, a passenger can choose a refund or rebooking on another Star Air flight at no extra cost, subject to availability, as the DGCA's rules provide.
The CAR says the duty to provide meals, refreshments and hotel accommodation during a delay does not apply where the delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances that could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. Cancellation compensation is not due to a passenger who gave no email address or phone number at booking, so give your contact details when you book.
You can complain to the airline directly or file a grievance on the Air Sewa app or portal. The CAR is the document to read for the full terms.
