Calicut International Airport (CCJ), also known as Karipur airport, is at Karipur in Malappuram district, Keralam (Kerala). It serves Kozhikode (Calicut) and sits around 23 km from the main Kozhikode town. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) runs it, through an Airport Director's office at the airport.
The airport has self check-in kiosks for domestic flights. Check your airline's own check-in deadline before you set off.
The airport has security hold areas for both international and domestic passengers.
Entry to the terminal building needs a valid ticket and an original photo identity document from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) list. A passport, Aadhaar or m-Aadhaar, a voter photo identity card and a driving licence are among them, and an international passenger carries a valid passport.
Under the CISF list, an infant or minor travelling with a parent or guardian who holds valid identity proof needs no separate document, but an unaccompanied minor does. Airlines may ask for more, and a foreign national on a domestic flight should ask the airline which document it accepts.
The CISF restricted-articles list allows liquids, aerosols and gels in cabin baggage in containers of up to 100 ml each, packed together in one clear, resealable one-litre plastic bag. Medicine or an inhaler accompanied by a prescription, and baby food, are the exceptions. The list says it is indicative and that common sense shall prevail.
Lighters, metal scissors with pointed tips, tools such as hammers and screwdrivers, and self-defence items such as pepper spray are on the CISF list of items banned in cabin baggage. A Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) circular of 11 November 2025 says power banks and spare batteries go in hand baggage only, not in overhead bins, and that power banks may not be used or charged during the flight. Ask your airline about any limit on their size or number.
Taxis and other local vehicles take passengers from the airport to Kozhikode city, and state transport buses may also be available at the airport. Check a bus's route and times locally before you depend on one.
Kozhikode railway station (station code CLT) serves the city.
The airport has parking for cars, two-wheelers, commercial vehicles and mini-buses. Parking is paid, and a commercial (yellow number plate) vehicle that comes in only to pick up a passenger also pays an entry fee.
Facilities at the airport include:
Facility details are on AAI's Conveniences page for the airport.
Staff of the May I Help You service work at the check-in areas, in arrivals and on the city side. A paid meet and greet service gives dedicated assistance from the city side to the boarding gate.

The DGCA sets out what airlines provide when a flight is delayed or cancelled, or a passenger is denied boarding, in its Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, Revision 4, dated 25 January 2023 and effective from 15 February 2023.
If you checked in on time, the airline provides meals and refreshments once a delay is expected to reach two hours or more on a flight with a block time of up to 2.5 hours, three hours or more on a flight of more than 2.5 and up to 5 hours, and four hours or more on a longer flight.
For a domestic flight expected to be delayed for more than six hours from the published scheduled time of departure or a previously revised departure time (communicated more than 24 hours before the original scheduled departure time), the airline offers either an alternate flight within six hours or a full refund of the ticket.
For a total delay of more than 24 hours, or more than six hours on a flight scheduled between 2000 and 0300 hours, the CAR provides for hotel accommodation, with transfers when necessary. Paragraph 3.4.4 of the CAR says an airline is not obliged to provide the meals, refreshments and hotel accommodation set out in its paragraph 3.8 "if the delay is caused due to extra ordinary circumstances as defined in Para 1.4 and Para 1.5 which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken."
When a flight is cancelled, a passenger told more than 24 hours before departure is offered an alternate flight or a refund. A passenger who was not told in that time is offered either an alternate flight, or compensation under the DGCA's rules together with a full refund, but compensation is not due to a passenger who gave the airline no email address or phone number at booking.
The CAR does not require compensation for cancellations and delays clearly attributable to air traffic control, weather or security risks, or caused by other circumstances beyond the airline's control. You can complain to the airline directly, file a grievance on the Air Sewa app or portal, or go to a statutory body or court. Check dgca.gov.in for a later revision, and your airline's current rules, before you rely on these rules.
