Karnataka Tourism describes Belagavi as a historical and spiritual town in North Karnataka, in the foothills of the Sahyadri range, and says it is also known as the fort city. It says Belagavi Fort was built in the 12th century by the local Ratta rulers and is now in ruins, and that temples and mosques co-existed there. It adds that shrines to Durga and Ganesha stand at the fort's entrance and that the Safa Masjid is inside the fort.
Kamala Basadi, inside the fort, was built in the Chalukyan style in 1204 AD, according to Karnataka Tourism, which calls it an important monument for Jains. The same body names St Mary's Church, built in 1869 from Gokak pink stones in a gothic style, and the Kapileshwara Temple, also known as Dakshina Kashi, which it says is best visited during the Shravana month or the festival of Mahashivaratri.
Karnataka Tourism says Kitturu is famous for the battle that the queen of Kitturu, Rani Chennamma, fought with the British, and it lists the Kitturu fort and palace among the major attractions of Belagavi.
It puts Gokak Falls 60 km from Belagavi and 10 km from Gokak, and Godachinmalki Falls 16 km from Gokak. It also names Rajahansagad, 20 km south of Belagavi, and Halasi, which it calls the second capital of the Banavasi Kadamba rulers between 345 and 550 AD.
IndiGo's check-in counters for domestic flights close 60 minutes before scheduled departure, and its boarding gates close 25 minutes before departure. IndiGo recommends reporting at least 2 hours before departure, and says it reserves the right to cancel a reservation if a customer does not keep to its check-in timelines.
IndiGo's baggage policy allows one cabin bag of up to 7 kg and 55 x 35 x 25 cm, plus one personal article of up to 3 kg, such as a purse or a small bag containing a laptop. Its allowance page gives a domestic checked allowance of 15 kg per person.
A Lite fare, or a similar promotional fare, includes no checked baggage; it can be added for a charge, including at the airport check-in counter before the counters close. IndiGo says baggage requirements differ from flight to flight and that the booking confirmation and ticket carry the most accurate details, so check yours.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) list of photo identity documents accepted at entry to an airport terminal includes a passport, Aadhaar or m-Aadhaar, a voter photo identity card and a driving licence, carried in original with a valid ticket. An infant or minor travelling with a parent or guardian who holds valid identity proof needs no separate document on the CISF list, but an unaccompanied minor does. Airlines may ask for more, so check with IndiGo.
In cabin baggage, the CISF restricted-articles list allows liquids, aerosols and gels in containers of up to 100 ml each, packed in one clear, resealable one-litre plastic bag. Medicine or an inhaler accompanied by a prescription, and baby food, are the exceptions.
A Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) circular dated 11 November 2025 says power banks and spare batteries go in hand baggage only and not in overhead bins, and that using or charging power banks is not allowed during flight. IndiGo publishes its own limits on their size and number, so check IndiGo's baggage pages before you fly.
Under the DGCA's Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, Revision 4, dated 25 January 2023, airlines are not liable for compensation for cancellations and delays clearly attributable to air traffic control, meteorological conditions or security risks.
IndiGo says that if it delays a flight by more than 2 hours or brings it forward by more than 1 hour, customers are entitled to a full refund or rebooking onto an alternative IndiGo flight at no additional cost, subject to availability. Its Plan B service lets a customer rebook on a different flight at no additional cost, or take a full refund, when IndiGo cancels a flight, brings it forward by 1 hour or more, or postpones it by 2 hours or more.
The CAR says the duty to provide meals, refreshments and hotel accommodation during a delay does not apply where the delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances that could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. Cancellation compensation is not due to a passenger who gave no email address or phone number at booking, so give your contact details when you book. You can complain to the airline directly or file a grievance on the Air Sewa app or portal.
