Mangaluru International Airport (IXE) is on Bajpe Main Road at Kenjar, Mangaluru (Mangalore), in the Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) awarded its operation, management and development to Mangaluru International Airport Limited, a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Limited, through a public-private partnership on a 50-year lease that runs from 31 October 2020.
The direct domestic flights recorded from Mangaluru are with IndiGo and Air India Express, to the destinations in the table further down this page.
Domestic and international flights use the same integrated terminal, Terminal 1 (T1). IndiGo and Air India Express both operate from T1, on domestic and international flights.
The airport operator said on 15 June 2026 that it had commissioned a Category 1 precision approach lighting system for Runway 24, following approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The operator says the lighting helps pilots in low visibility conditions such as rain, fog or haze.
Prepaid taxis and app-based cabs have pick-up points at the terminal, and shuttle services are also available outside the terminal on arrival. The airport operator also lists local trains and buses among the ways to travel to and from the airport.
If someone is meeting you, or you have arranged transport in advance, the meeting point is the Arrival Hall.
The terminal has short-term and long-term parking, with a valet option and a general option. You can pre-book parking on Mangaluru International Airport's own website, and the QR code you receive is scanned at the parking counter.
The airport asks passengers to arrive two hours before a domestic flight and four hours before an international flight. You show a valid ID at the terminal entry gate, and you can use web check-in where your airline offers it, self check-in kiosks or self baggage drop.
Hand baggage and checked baggage allowances differ by airline, so check yours with IndiGo or Air India Express before you pack. Baggage trolleys and an information desk are in the terminal.
The operator says DigiYatra is available to departing passengers on select domestic flights from Terminal 1. Passengers go to the DigiYatra gate at Gate 1 at departures and scan their face there, then pass a Face Pod at the e-gate in the pre-security area, another Face Pod after security, and self-boarding at the departure gates.
You register for DigiYatra with Aadhaar or DigiLocker. Digi Buddies, who wear reflective jackets, help passengers at the touchpoints.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) publishes the list of photo identity documents accepted at entry to the terminal building, carried in original with a valid ticket. A passport, Aadhaar or m-Aadhaar, a voter photo identity card and a driving licence are among them, and the CISF says an international passenger must carry a valid passport along with the ticket.
The CISF list says an infant or minor travelling with a parent or guardian who holds valid identity proof does not need a separate document, but an unaccompanied minor does. Airlines may ask for more, and foreign nationals should ask their airline which document it accepts for a domestic flight.
All passengers and hand luggage are screened, and electronics go in separate trays. The CISF's restricted-articles list allows liquids, aerosols and gels in cabin baggage in containers of up to 100 ml each, packed in one clear, resealable one-litre plastic bag. Medicine or an inhaler accompanied by a prescription, and baby food, are exceptions.
Lighters, knives other than round-bladed, butter and plastic ones, tools such as hammers and drills, sporting goods such as bats and golf clubs, and pepper spray are among the items the CISF list bars from cabin baggage.
A DGCA circular dated 11 November 2025 says power banks and spare batteries are to be carried in hand baggage only and not placed in overhead bins, and that using or charging power banks is not allowed during flight. Ask your airline about any limit on their size or number.
T1 has a CIP Lounge on the departure side, on the left before the baggage check-in hall, in the area before security, so you still have security to clear after using it. A second CIP Lounge, for arriving passengers, is on the left after the baggage belt hall.
Both lounges are listed as open 24 hours, for CIP guests, Pranaam guests and walk-in customers. The facilities listed include food and drink, free Wi-Fi, newspapers, television and massage chairs.
The airport's facilities include Wi-Fi, ATMs, charging stations, slumber chairs, a baby care room, a prayer room, a smoking room, help phones, and a lost and found service. There is also a Pranaam meet-and-greet service, baggage wrapping and ticketing counters.
Book a wheelchair when you buy your ticket or through your airline's contact centre. A wheelchair assistance desk is near the departure kerbside, and help phones are at the departure drop point.
Information desks are open round the clock in the arrival area, the departure area and after security.

The DGCA sets out what airlines provide when a flight is delayed or cancelled, or a passenger is denied boarding, in its Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, Revision 4, dated 25 January 2023 and effective from 15 February 2023. If you checked in on time and the delay runs long enough, the airline provides meals and refreshments, and for long delays hotel accommodation with transfers when necessary. The CAR does not require meals, refreshments or hotel accommodation where the delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances that could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken.
If a domestic flight is expected to be delayed by more than six hours from its published departure time, or from a revised time communicated more than 24 hours before the original departure, the airline offers either an alternate flight within six hours or a full refund. When a flight is cancelled, the airline arranges an alternate flight or a refund, and a passenger who was not told in time is offered either an alternate flight, or compensation under the DGCA's rules on top of a full refund.
Compensation for a cancellation is not due to a passenger who gave the airline no email address or phone number at booking, or where the cancellation is caused by extraordinary circumstances. You can complain to the airline directly, file a grievance on the Air Sewa app or portal, or go to a statutory body or court. Check dgca.gov.in for a later revision and your airline's current rules before you rely on this.
Both use Terminal 1 (T1), the integrated terminal for domestic and international flights at Mangaluru International Airport.
The airport asks passengers to arrive two hours before a domestic flight and four hours before an international flight. Check your airline's own check-in deadline as well.
Both CIP Lounges at Mangaluru are listed as open to walk-in customers as well as CIP and Pranaam guests, 24 hours a day. The departure lounge is before the baggage check-in hall, so leave time for security afterwards.
The operator says DigiYatra passengers start at the DigiYatra gate at Gate 1 at departures, where they scan their face, before the Face Pods at the pre-security e-gate and after security.
