The new terminal building at Jabalpur Airport
On 14 May 2022 the Ministry of Civil Aviation announced a new terminal building for Jabalpur Airport, which it said would show passengers Gond paintings, local handicrafts and murals. In a release of 6 February 2024, the Ministry quoted the Minister as saying the new terminal building was being built. The Prime Minister's address of 10 March 2024 listed Jabalpur among the airports where new terminal buildings had been inaugurated.

In its release of 14 May 2022, the Ministry of Civil Aviation called the airport the gateway to Kanha National Park, Bandhavgarh National Park and the marble cliffs and waterfalls at nearby Bhedaghat.
At Bhedaghat (also spelt Bedaghat), the district administration says, the Narmada makes its way through the Marble Rocks, narrows, and then plunges in a waterfall known as Dhuandhar, or the smoke cascade.
Kanha Tiger Reserve names Jabalpur among the nearest airports to the reserve. By road from Jabalpur, it puts its Sarhi, Khatia and Mukki gates at about 150 to 200 km.

IndiGo check-in and baggage
IndiGo's check-in counters for domestic flights close 60 minutes before scheduled departure, and its boarding gates close 25 minutes before departure. A Lite fare, or a similar promotional fare, includes no checked baggage; it can be added for a charge, including at the airport check-in counter before the counters close.

Identity and security for flights from Jabalpur
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) publishes the list of photo identity documents accepted at entry to the terminal building. A passenger needs any one of them in original, with a valid ticket. A passport, Aadhaar or m-Aadhaar, a voter photo identity card and a driving licence are among them.

A Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) circular dated 11 November 2025 says power banks and spare batteries are to be carried in hand baggage only and not placed in overhead bins, and that using or charging power banks is not allowed during flight. Ask IndiGo about any limit on their size or number.
Delays and cancellations
Under the DGCA's Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, Revision 4, dated 25 January 2023 and effective from 15 February 2023, airlines are not liable for compensation for cancellations and delays clearly attributable to meteorological conditions. IndiGo says it notifies passengers in advance by text message if they gave a mobile number at booking, and sends the revised itinerary to their registered email address.
The same CAR says the duty to provide meals, refreshments and hotel accommodation during a delay does not apply where the delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances that could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. Cancellation compensation is not due to a passenger who gave the airline no email address or phone number at booking, so give your contact details when you book.
