The Maharashtra Airport Development Company describes itself as the airport operator at Shirdi. It says the Government of Maharashtra developed the greenfield airport to promote tourism, industrial and commercial growth, and to facilitate pilgrimage.

Shirdi International Airport has a snacks counter and first aid. Taxis and buses are available from the airport, which lies about 16 km south-west of Shirdi railway station.
The Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust says Shirdi can also be reached by rail from Sainagar Shirdi station. It says Maharashtra State Transport buses run to Shirdi from major cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Nashik and Kopargaon, and that a reception centre is available at the state transport bus stand. It adds that private air-conditioned buses run to Shirdi from cities in Maharashtra, Telangana, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.
On 8 October 2024 the Prime Minister's Office announced that the Prime Minister would lay the foundation stone of a new integrated terminal building at Shirdi Airport on 9 October 2024, by video conference.
The Trust's list of important temples in Shirdi names the Shri Sai Samadhi temple, Gurusthan, Dwarkamai, the Hanuman (Maruti) temple, the Chavdi, the Ganesha, Shanishawar and Mahadev temples, Nanda Deep and the Gurudev Datta Mandir.
The Trust publishes its daily programme of darshan and aarti, so check the current timings there before you plan your visit. It says VIP darshan passes and aarti passes are available on its official website and mobile app, or in person at Shirdi.
Maharashtra Tourism gives the cooler months, October to March, as the ideal time to visit Shirdi, and names Guru Purnima (July or August) and Dussehra (September or October) among its festivals. It also names Shani Shingnapur, Nashik and Trimbakeshwar as nearby places.
IndiGo's check-in counters for domestic flights close 60 minutes before scheduled departure, and its boarding gates close 25 minutes before departure. IndiGo recommends reporting at least 2 hours before departure, and says it reserves the right to cancel a reservation if a customer does not keep to its check-in timelines.
IndiGo's baggage policy allows one cabin bag of up to 7 kg and 55 x 35 x 25 cm, plus one personal article of up to 3 kg, such as a purse or a small bag containing a laptop. Its allowance page gives a domestic checked allowance of 15 kg per person.
A Lite fare, or a similar promotional fare, includes no checked baggage; it can be added for a charge, including at the airport check-in counter before the counters close. IndiGo says baggage requirements differ from flight to flight and that the booking confirmation and ticket carry the most accurate details, so check yours.
IndiGo says that if it delays a flight by more than 2 hours or brings it forward by more than 1 hour, customers are entitled to a full refund or rebooking onto an alternative IndiGo flight at no additional cost, subject to availability.
Under the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) list of valid photo identity documents, a passenger carries any one of them in original, with a valid ticket, at entry to the terminal building. A passport, Aadhaar or m-Aadhaar, a voter photo identity card and a driving licence are among them, and an unaccompanied minor needs one too. Airlines may ask for more, so check with IndiGo.
Under the CISF's restricted-articles list, liquids, aerosols and gels in cabin baggage go in containers of up to 100 ml each, in one clear, resealable one-litre plastic bag; medicine or an inhaler accompanied by a prescription, and baby food, are the exceptions. A Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) circular dated 11 November 2025 says power banks and spare batteries go in hand baggage only and not in overhead bins, and that using or charging power banks is not allowed during flight. IndiGo sets its own limits on their size and number, so check its baggage pages before you fly.
Under the DGCA's Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, Revision 4, dated 25 January 2023, airlines are not liable for compensation for cancellations and delays clearly attributable to meteorological conditions. IndiGo says that if you give an SMS-capable mobile number at booking, it will tell you of a change to your flight in advance by SMS, and it sends the revised itinerary by email.
The same CAR says the duty to provide meals, refreshments and hotel accommodation during a delay does not apply where the delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances that could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. Cancellation compensation is not due to a passenger who gave no email address or phone number at booking, so give your contact details when you book.
You can complain to the airline directly or file a grievance on the Air Sewa app or portal. The CAR is the document to read for the full terms.
