Jorhat Airport (JRH), also called Rowriah, is about 4.5 km east of Jorhat city in Assam. Its passenger terminal is a civil enclave at an Indian Air Force airfield, and security is by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

Direct domestic flights recorded from Jorhat are with IndiGo, to Kolkata and New Delhi; the table further down this page links each route.

Taxis are available at the airport for the journey into Jorhat. There is also a car park for two-wheelers, cars and buses.

Facilities at Jorhat Airport

Facilities at the airport include a cash machine (ATM), Wi-Fi, a child care room, porters, medical and first aid facilities, and a lost and found service for baggage.

Identity and security at Jorhat Airport

At entry to the terminal building you show a valid ticket and, in original, one of the photo identity documents on the CISF's list; a passport, Aadhaar or m-Aadhaar, a voter photo identity card and a driving licence are among them. The CISF says an infant or minor travelling with a parent or guardian who holds valid identity proof needs no separate document, but an unaccompanied minor does. IndiGo asks for proof of an infant's age at check-in.

Foreign nationals should ask their airline which document it accepts for a domestic flight.

Liquids, aerosols and gels may go in cabin baggage in containers of up to 100 ml each, packed in one clear, resealable one-litre plastic bag; medicine or an inhaler accompanied by a prescription, and baby food, are exceptions. A Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) circular dated 11 November 2025 says power banks and spare batteries are to be carried in hand baggage only and not placed in overhead bins, and that power banks may not be used or charged during the flight. Ask IndiGo about any limit on their size or number.

Check-in, baggage and delays on IndiGo

IndiGo closes check-in counters for domestic flights 60 minutes before scheduled departure and boarding gates 25 minutes before departure, and recommends reporting at least 2 hours before departure. It reserves the right to cancel the booking of a passenger who does not keep to these timelines.

IndiGo's baggage policy allows one cabin bag of up to 7 kg and 55 x 35 x 25 cm, plus one personal article such as a purse or a laptop of up to 3 kg. Its allowance page gives 15 kg of checked baggage per person on domestic flights, but on a Lite fare or a similar promotional fare you may not be allowed any checked baggage unless you pay excess charges at the airport counter. IndiGo says baggage rules differ from flight to flight, so check your booking confirmation and ticket.

IndiGo says that if a flight is delayed by more than 2 hours, or brought forward by more than 1 hour, passengers can take a full refund or rebooking onto another IndiGo flight at no additional cost, subject to availability. IndiGo says compensation for a cancellation or delay is processed as per the DGCA's Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, and that a passenger who gave no valid contact details at booking may not be entitled to it. The CAR also says an airline need not pay compensation for cancellations and delays clearly attributable to air traffic control, weather or security risks.
