Pantnagar Airport for Corbett National Park

Uttarakhand Tourism says the closest domestic airport to Corbett National Park is at Phoolbagh, Pantnagar, 50 km from the park. The Nainital district administration says the nearest airport is at Pantnagar, about 80 km from Ramnagar, which is the park's nearest railhead.

According to the Nainital district administration, Corbett is India's first national park. It was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park, was renamed Corbett in 1957, and lies in the Pauri Garhwal and Nainital districts.

The district gives visitor seasons by zone: Dhikala from 15 November to 15 June; Bijrani, Sonanadi and Domunda from 15 October to 30 June; and Jhirna all year. It also says an official registered guide is compulsory on all excursions. Seasons and zones can change, so check the current zones and bookings with the reserve before you book the flight.

IndiGo check-in, baggage and changes

IndiGo's check-in counters for domestic flights close 60 minutes before scheduled departure, and its boarding gates close 25 minutes before departure. IndiGo recommends reporting at least 2 hours before departure, and says it reserves the right to cancel a reservation if a customer does not keep to its check-in timelines.

IndiGo's baggage policy allows one cabin bag of up to 7 kg and 55 x 35 x 25 cm, plus one personal article of up to 3 kg, such as a purse or a small bag containing a laptop. Its allowance page gives a domestic checked allowance of 15 kg per person.

A Lite fare, or a similar promotional fare, includes no checked baggage; it can be added for a charge, including at the airport check-in counter before the counters close. IndiGo says baggage requirements differ from flight to flight and that the booking confirmation and ticket carry the most accurate details, so check yours before you pack.

If IndiGo cancels a flight, brings it forward by 1 hour or more, or postpones it by 2 hours or more, its Plan B page lets you rebook on a different flight at no additional cost or take a full refund.

Identity documents, liquids and power banks

Under the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) list of valid photo identity documents, a passenger carries any one of them in original, with a valid ticket, at entry to the terminal building. A passport, Aadhaar or m-Aadhaar, a voter photo identity card and a driving licence are among them, and an unaccompanied minor needs one too. Airlines may ask for more, so check with IndiGo.

Under the CISF's restricted-articles list, liquids, aerosols and gels in cabin baggage go in containers of up to 100 ml each, in one clear, resealable one-litre plastic bag; medicine or an inhaler accompanied by a prescription, and baby food, are the exceptions. A Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) circular dated 11 November 2025 says power banks and spare batteries go in hand baggage only and not in overhead bins, and that using or charging power banks is not allowed during flight. IndiGo sets its own limits on their size and number, so check its baggage pages before you fly.

Delays, cancellations and winter fog

In its release of 15 January 2026, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported dense to very dense fog over parts of Uttarakhand on 9 January and from 11 to 14 January 2026. Under the DGCA's Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, Revision 4, dated 25 January 2023, airlines are not liable for compensation for cancellations and delays clearly attributable to meteorological conditions. IndiGo says that if you give an SMS-capable mobile number at booking, it will tell you of a change to your flight in advance by SMS, and it sends the revised itinerary by email.

The same CAR says the duty to provide meals, refreshments and hotel accommodation during a delay does not apply where the delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances that could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. Cancellation compensation is not due to a passenger who gave no email address or phone number at booking, so give your contact details when you book.

You can complain to the airline directly or file a grievance on the Air Sewa app or portal. The CAR is the document to read for the full terms.
