Star Air check-in, baggage and travelling with children

Star Air's conditions of carriage close check-in counters 60 minutes before scheduled departure and boarding gates 25 minutes before, and the airline advises reporting at least 2 hours before. A passenger who is not at the gate 25 minutes before departure is treated as a gate no-show, and Star Air says it is not obliged to reach out to a missing passenger. Star Air's conditions also ask passengers who have checked in online to be at the boarding gate 30 minutes before departure.

Web check-in is on starair.in; check your booking for when it opens and closes.

Passengers who need special assistance, such as a wheelchair, are asked to pre-book it at least 48 hours before departure. Star Air requires them to check in at the airport counter, not online.

Star Air allows one cabin bag of up to 7 kg, laptop included, and its conditions list items carried in addition, such as a handbag, a camera, an overcoat and medicines needed during the flight. The checked allowance depends on the fare: in the fare table effective from 16 September 2026 it is 15 kg on Star Regular and Star Flexi, and 20 kg on Star Comfort and Business fares; Star Air marks the Business figure as not applicable on some sectors.

Star Air says the free checked allowance is the one in the fare rules on your ticket, so check your ticket before you pack. Star Air's fleet page lists Embraer ERJ 175 and ERJ 145 regional jets, and says to check the aircraft type on your route when booking.

Star Air counts a child under 2 on the day of travel as an infant: infants younger than 7 days cannot travel, apart from the medical cases set out in its conditions, each adult may carry one infant, and proof of age is needed. Its unaccompanied minor service is for children from age 5 and under 12, and a child under 5 cannot travel alone. Star Air sets pregnancy limits by week and asks for a doctor's certificate from 28 weeks, so check with the airline before booking.

Identity, liquids and power banks

Star Air's conditions make a valid photo identity document mandatory at check-in, and list a passport, Aadhaar, a driving licence, an election photo identity card and a PAN card among those accepted, along with other valid identity cards issued by the State or Central Government.

The restricted-articles list of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which covers flights from civil airports in India, limits liquids, aerosols and gels in cabin baggage to containers of up to 100 ml each, packed in one clear, resealable one-litre bag. Medicine or an inhaler accompanied by a prescription, and baby food, are exceptions.

Star Air allows power banks only in hand baggage. A Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) circular dated 11 November 2025 says power banks and spare batteries go in hand baggage only, not in overhead bins, and are not to be used or charged during the flight.

Delays and cancellations on Star Air

Star Air's conditions of carriage say that if it cancels a flight or reschedules it by more than two and a half hours, depending on the length of the journey, you can choose a refund or a rebooking on another Star Air flight at no additional cost, subject to availability, as the DGCA's rules provide.

Those rules are the DGCA's Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, Revision 4, dated 25 January 2023 and effective from 15 February 2023. Under it, the duty to provide meals, refreshments and hotel accommodation during a delay does not apply where the delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances that could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. Cancellation compensation is not due to a passenger who gave the airline no email address or phone number at booking.
