The operator entry and the 2020 regional connectivity flights

The operator entry for Jagdalpur Airport in India's aeronautical information publication names the District Collector and Chairman, Government of Chhattisgarh, Bastar district.

A Ministry of Civil Aviation release of 21 September 2020 covered the inauguration that day of flights from Jagdalpur under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAN). It describes Jagdalpur as a business hub, with many furniture factories and rice mills in the region.

Distance from Jagdalpur Railway Station and services in the city

India's aeronautical information publication puts the airport about 2.5 km from Jagdalpur Railway Station. It lists hotels, restaurants, medical facilities, banks, a post office and a tourist office in the city.

Chitrakote and Tirathgarh falls and Kanger Valley National Park

The Bastar district administration places the Chitrakote Waterfall on the Indravati river and says it is also called the Niagara of India.

The district puts the Tirathgarh Waterfall in the Kanger Valley. Kanger Valley National Park was given national park status in 1982, and the district places the Kutumsar, Kailash and Dandak caves inside it.

The Danteshwari temple at Dantewada and the Bastar Dussehra

The Dantewada district administration describes the temple at Dantewada as dedicated to Maa Danteshwari, the most revered goddess of Bastar, and believed to be one of the Shakti Pithas. It links the name Dantewada to the belief that Sati Devi's teeth fell there, and it puts Jagdalpur about 80 km from Dantewada.

Incredible India describes the Bastar Dussehra as a yearly festival of about 75 days, with Jagdalpur as its main location and Maa Danteshwari and the deity tradition of Bastar as its main deity.

IndiGo check-in, baggage and connections

IndiGo's check-in counters for domestic flights close 60 minutes before scheduled departure, and its boarding gates close 25 minutes before departure. IndiGo recommends reporting at least 2 hours before departure, and says it reserves the right to cancel a reservation if a customer does not keep to its check-in timelines.

IndiGo's baggage policy allows one cabin bag of up to 7 kg and 55 x 35 x 25 cm, plus one personal article of up to 3 kg, such as a purse or a small bag containing a laptop. Its allowance page gives a domestic checked allowance of 15 kg per person.

A Lite fare, or a similar promotional fare, includes no checked baggage; it can be added for a charge, including at the airport check-in counter before the counters close. IndiGo says baggage requirements differ from flight to flight and that the booking confirmation and ticket carry the most accurate details, so check yours.

IndiGo's conditions of carriage say that on unconnected flight segments it is not responsible if a customer misses the flight to the final destination because of a delay to the IndiGo flight, and that it provides no compensation or facility in that case.

Identity documents, liquids and power banks

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) publishes a list of photo identity documents accepted at entry to an airport terminal building, carried in original with a valid ticket. A passport, Aadhaar or m-Aadhaar, a voter photo identity card and a driving licence are among them, and an unaccompanied minor needs one too. Airlines may ask for more, so check with IndiGo.

The CISF's restricted-articles list, which it says applies to flights from civil airports in India, allows liquids, aerosols and gels in cabin baggage in containers of up to 100 ml each, in one clear, resealable one-litre plastic bag. Medicine or an inhaler accompanied by a prescription, and baby food, are the exceptions.

A Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) circular dated 11 November 2025 says power banks and spare batteries go in hand baggage only and not in overhead bins, and that using or charging power banks is not allowed during flight. Check IndiGo's own baggage pages for its limits on power banks before you fly.

Delays, cancellations and passenger rights

Under the DGCA's Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, Revision 4, dated 25 January 2023, airlines are not liable for compensation for cancellations and delays clearly attributable to meteorological conditions. IndiGo says that if it delays a flight by more than 2 hours or brings it forward by more than 1 hour, customers are entitled to a full refund or rebooking onto an alternative IndiGo flight at no additional cost, subject to availability.

The same CAR says the duty to provide meals, refreshments and hotel accommodation during a delay does not apply where the delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances that could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. Cancellation compensation is not due to a passenger who gave no email address or phone number at booking, so give your contact details when you book.

You can complain to the airline directly or file a grievance on the Air Sewa app or portal. The CAR is the document to read for the full terms.
