The Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha (Kumbh Mela)

According to the Nashik district administration, the Simhastha Kumbh Mela is held every 12 years on the banks of the Godavari at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar, and the last one was held there in 2015-16. A Ministry of Railways release of 25 July 2025 describes advance preparations for the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha, to be held in 2027.

The Government of Maharashtra set up the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority to plan, coordinate and oversee the preparations for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027 in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar.

Trimbakeshwar, Panchvati, Anjaneri and Nashik's vineyards

Maharashtra Tourism says the Shri Trimbakeshwar Temple is near the Brahmagiri mountain, from which the Godavari River originates, and lists it as a Jyotirlinga. It puts Trimbakeshwar about 28 km from Nashik city and says the temple was built by the third Peshwa between 1740 and 1760, on the site of an ancient temple.

Maharashtra Tourism places Panchvati, in Nashik city, on the left bank of the Godavari, where Rama is said to have lived during his exile, and Ramkund along the bank of the same river. It says Anjaneri Fort is celebrated as the birthplace of Hanuman.

Maharashtra Tourism also calls Nashik the "Wine Capital of India" and names Sula Vineyards, which offers guided tours that usually end with a wine tasting. It gives July to March as the best time to visit, and describes winter, October to March, as the peak season, with the grape harvest and vineyard tours.

IndiGo check-in, baggage and changes

IndiGo's check-in counters for domestic flights close 60 minutes before scheduled departure, and its boarding gates close 25 minutes before departure. IndiGo recommends reporting at least 2 hours before departure, and says it reserves the right to cancel a reservation if a customer does not keep to its check-in timelines.

IndiGo's baggage policy allows one cabin bag of up to 7 kg and 55 x 35 x 25 cm, plus one personal article of up to 3 kg, such as a purse or a small bag containing a laptop. Its allowance page gives a domestic checked allowance of 15 kg per person.

A Lite fare, or a similar promotional fare, includes no checked baggage; it can be added for a charge, including at the airport check-in counter before the counters close. IndiGo says baggage requirements differ from flight to flight and that the booking confirmation and ticket carry the most accurate details, so check yours.

IndiGo says that if it delays a flight by more than 2 hours or brings it forward by more than 1 hour, customers are entitled to a full refund or rebooking onto an alternative IndiGo flight at no additional cost, subject to availability.

Identity documents, liquids and power banks

Under the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) list of valid photo identity documents, a passenger carries any one of them in original, with a valid ticket, at entry to the terminal building. A passport, Aadhaar or m-Aadhaar, a voter photo identity card and a driving licence are among them, and an unaccompanied minor needs one too. Airlines may ask for more, so check with your airline.

Under the CISF's restricted-articles list, liquids, aerosols and gels in cabin baggage go in containers of up to 100 ml each, in one clear, resealable one-litre plastic bag; medicine or an inhaler accompanied by a prescription, and baby food, are the exceptions. A Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) circular dated 11 November 2025 says power banks and spare batteries go in hand baggage only and not in overhead bins, and that using or charging power banks is not allowed during flight. For any limit on their rating or number, check IndiGo's own baggage pages.

Delays, cancellations and weather

Under the DGCA's Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, Revision 4, dated 25 January 2023, airlines are not liable for compensation for cancellations and delays clearly attributable to meteorological conditions. IndiGo says that if you give an SMS-capable mobile number at booking, it will tell you of a change to your flight in advance by SMS, and it sends the revised itinerary by email.

The same CAR says the duty to provide meals, refreshments and hotel accommodation during a delay does not apply where the delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances that could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. Cancellation compensation is not due to a passenger who gave no email address or phone number at booking, so give your contact details when you book.

You can complain to the airline directly or file a grievance on the Air Sewa app or portal. The CAR is the document to read for the full terms.
