Deoghar Airport (DGH) serves Deoghar in Jharkhand and is about 13 km south-east of Jasidih railway station. The Prime Minister inaugurated it on 12 July 2022, and the district administration of Deoghar says it is also known as Baba Baidyanath Airport.
The direct domestic flights recorded from Deoghar go to Bengaluru, Mumbai and New Delhi with IndiGo.
In a release on 12 July 2022, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) said the airport was developed by Deoghar Airport Ltd, a joint venture company of AAI and the Government of Jharkhand, in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
AAI described the terminal's facade as carrying motifs inspired by the shikharas of Baba Baidyanath Dham and the roots of the banyan tree, with interiors decorated in local art: Sohari, Khovsa and Santhali paintings. It named rainwater harvesting, a sewage treatment plant and a solar power system among the building's design features.
Hired cars are available at the airport. The district administration of Deoghar puts the airport about 12 km from the main city, and the airport is about 13 km south-east of Jasidih railway station.
Parking at the airport is charged, under a tariff published by the Airports Authority of India. Check the current charges before you leave a car there.
For rail travel, the district administration names Jasidih Junction as the main station, with Baidyanath Dham Junction and Deoghar station also serving the town. By road, it says Deoghar town is linked by the Jharkhand State Road Transport Corporation, the West Bengal State Road Transport Corporation and private travel services.
Deoghar Airport has a medical and first aid room, toilets including ones for passengers with reduced mobility, a child care room and drinking water. Lifts or escalators and wheelchairs are also available.
Hotels are in the city.
The airline recorded on these flights is IndiGo. Direct domestic flights recorded from Deoghar go to:
| Destination | Airport | Airlines recorded |
|---|---|---|
| Bengaluru (Bangalore) | Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR) | IndiGo |
| Mumbai (Bombay) | Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) | IndiGo |
| New Delhi | Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) | IndiGo |
IndiGo's check-in counters for domestic flights close 60 minutes before scheduled departure, and its boarding gates close 25 minutes before departure. IndiGo recommends reporting at least 2 hours before departure, and says it reserves the right to cancel a reservation if a customer does not keep to its check-in timelines.
IndiGo's baggage policy allows one cabin bag of up to 7 kg and 55 x 35 x 25 cm, plus one personal article of up to 3 kg, such as a purse or a small bag containing a laptop. IndiGo gives a domestic checked allowance of 15 kg per person. A Lite fare, or a similar promotional fare, includes no checked baggage; it can be added for a charge, including at the airport check-in counter before the counters close.
IndiGo says baggage requirements differ from flight to flight, and that the booking confirmation and ticket carry the most accurate details. Check yours before you pack.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) publishes the list of photo identity documents accepted at entry to the terminal building. A passenger needs any one of them in original, with a valid ticket. A passport, Aadhaar or m-Aadhaar, a voter photo identity card and a driving licence are among them.
On the CISF list, an infant or minor travelling with a parent or guardian who holds valid identity proof needs no separate document, but an unaccompanied minor does. Airlines may ask for more, so check with IndiGo.
Under the CISF's restricted-articles list, liquids, aerosols and gels in cabin baggage go in containers of up to 100 ml each, packed in one clear, resealable one-litre plastic bag; medicine or an inhaler accompanied by a prescription, and baby food, are the exceptions. A Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) circular dated 11 November 2025 says power banks and spare batteries are to be carried in hand baggage only and not placed in overhead bins, and that using or charging power banks is not allowed during flight. Ask IndiGo about any limit on their size or number.
Under the DGCA's Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, Revision 4, dated 25 January 2023 and effective from 15 February 2023, airlines are not liable for compensation for cancellations and delays clearly attributable to meteorological conditions. IndiGo says it notifies passengers in advance by text message if they gave a mobile number at booking, and sends the revised itinerary to their registered email address.
The same CAR says the duty to provide meals, refreshments and hotel accommodation during a delay does not apply where the delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances that could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. Cancellation compensation is not due to a passenger who gave the airline no email address or phone number at booking, so give your contact details when you book.
IndiGo's Plan B page lets you rebook on a different flight at no additional cost, or take a full refund, if IndiGo cancels a flight, brings it forward by 1 hour or more, or postpones it by 2 hours or more. You can complain to the airline directly or file a grievance on the Air Sewa app or portal, and the CAR is the document to read for the full terms.
The district administration calls the Baidyanath Jyotirlinga temple, also known as Baidyanath Dham, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India, considered among the most sacred abodes of Lord Shiva. On 12 July 2022, a Press Information Bureau (PIB) release described the airport's inauguration as a key step to provide direct connectivity to Baba Baidyanath Dham.
The district describes the Shravani Mela, in the month of Shrawan, as a month-long pilgrimage in which devotees carry water from Sultanganj to the temple.
According to AAI, other places to visit from Deoghar include Nandan Pahar, Naulakha Mandir, Satsang Ashram and Basukinath.
